Name: Music at the Library: "Beethoven
Date: March 2, 2018
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM MST
Event Description:
Join us for Beethoven's night at the library featuring Amanda Gessler. Experience Beethoven’s vast range of emotional expression through three sonatas; hear Beethoven’s sense of humor in Sonata Op. 31/3, his fire in the 32 Variations in C minor, and his portrayal of transcendence in Sonata Op. 110. Throughout her years of musical training, Amanda has studied the individual voices of many composers, but Beethoven has been the center of her passion from first introduction to his music at age 9, to the present-day. A wise teacher was motivated to play the first movement of the Moonlight Sonata for her in an attempt to dissuade her from quitting piano lessons. It worked so well that it planted a seed of fascination with Beethoven, which has continued to be cultivated and nurtured by many prominent teachers throughout the years. And, now, we have the opportunity to listen to the fruits of Amanda’s years of endeavor.
