About
Response's mission is to work with our community to end domestic and sexual abuse and support survivors in achieving their own safety and empowerment.
Founded in 1983, Response is the only organization in the upper Roaring Fork Valley dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, stalking, and human trafficking. What began as a volunteer-led crisis helpline and informal shelter network has grown into a professional, trauma-informed organization providing a full continuum of services. Through advocacy, emergency shelter, housing assistance, basic needs support, a 24-hour crisis line, counseling and legal support, prevention education, and community partnerships, Response helps individuals and families move from crisis toward long-term safety and stability.
With tremendous support from our community, Response opened the Halle Center for Hope and Healing in Basalt in 2025, marking a transformational step forward for survivor services in the region, allowing Response to provide emergency shelter, advocacy, and coordinated services under one roof for the first time in the organization's history.
Response’s work is grounded in the values of survivor empowerment, dignity, confidentiality, equity, collaboration, and access to services for all members of the community regardless of background, language, or income. Services are all available in English and Spanish and always free of charge.
