Name: A Flash of Lightning in the Dark of Night: A One Day Yoga Immersion
Date: July 20, 2019
Time: 11:00 AM - 6:45 PM MDT
Event Description:
In this one day immersion, we will saturate ourselves in various expressions of the art of yoga — simply for the love of it. Schedule: 11:00am-2:00pm Gentle-Way Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga 3:30pm-5:00pm Love of Wisdom, Wisdom of Love 5:15pm-6:45pm Unleashing Prana In Gentle-Way Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, explore the system created by Sri K Pattabhi Jois in a slow and gentle way. Incorporating therapeutic techniques from the latest research in myofascial structural integration, osteopathy, somatics, physical therapy, Iyengar yoga, and other healing modalities to promote a safe and healthy practice. Students are encouraged to find a sense of stability and ease in their bodies and minds as they increase their strength, flexibility, sensitivity, concentration, and — hopefully — kindness; for themselves and for others. In Love of Wisdom, Wisdom of Love, we will discuss elements of philosophy from Zen, Classical Yoga, and Centrism — the clear and shining philosophy of Tibet’s great master Je Tsong Khapa — honing our critical wisdom to see the true nature of life as love. In Unleashing Prana, we will explore pranayama breathing practices — liberating our breath, nervous system, and life-force; we will chant — shedding the unwarranted limitations suppressing our voices; and we will journey through Yoga Nidra — discovering the infinite magic of our imaginations. Bio: Alexander Widas has been an enthusiastic student of yoga and its related arts and sciences since 2005. His teachings are therapeutic, contemplative, and inspiring. He draws from extensive study and practice across a wide range of disciplines: philosophy, psychology, natural and biomedical sciences — especially cognitive neuroscience, biophysics, and manual therapy; martial arts; music, painting, and literature; comparative religion; shamanism; psychonautics; history, and so much more. Alex gently explores and shares the Ashtanga Vinyasa method of yoga as inspired by Mary Taylor and Richard Freeman, infusing gems from his other — innumerable and immeasurably wonderful — teachers.
