Event Description:
Basalt High School teacher Leticia Guzman Ingram will share her experience traveling to the Arctic Circle on a research expedition through a recent fellowship. Selected as a a 2019 Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow, Ingram spent eleven days viewing and studying arctic flora and fauna alongside naturalists and researchers. During the fellowship she received digital photography training from National Geographic photographers. Ingram will show a slide presentation of the expedition and discuss the important role photography and storytelling play in documenting arctic ecosystems and climate change. Afterwards she will answer questions from the audience. Her photographs from the expedition will be on display in the lobby during the month of September. Leticia Guzman Ingram teaches English as a second language, biology, and film studies at Basalt High School in Colorado. The 2016 Colorado Teacher of the Year, Leticia is passionate about developing community partnerships, expanding global perspectives, and creating lifelong learners.
