Name: Co-operative Gardening: Program launch and registration
Date: April 6, 2019
Time: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM MDT
Event Description:
Are you longing for a garden of your own but lack the time, resources, or space to have one? Our co-operative gardening program is bringing together community members like you to work cooperatively in the planning, growing, and maintaining of a beautiful shared vegetable garden. Many hands not only make light the work, they allow us all to have what we need! How it works: Registration is required to take part in the Co-operative Gardening program. Co-operative members will have access to a shared garden plot in Basalt, gardening tools, seeds, mentorship and support, and access to hands-on gardening programs. Members who have appropriate conditions at home will have the opportunity to share the fun of starting seed plants for later transplant into our garden. Members will be asked to sign-up for weekly work shifts at the garden throughout the growing season to fairly split the tasks of planting, weeding, watering, and maintaining our garden. Once vegetables begin to ripen, we'll harvest on a regular basis and split the produce evenly among co-operative members (it'll be like a CSA basket, accept we grew it ourselves!) A harvest pot-lock and celebration will wrap up our growing season. To learn more about our Co-operative Gardening program, or to register to be a part of the growing fun, stop by anytime during the program launch.
