Abby Geni is the author The Body Farm, which was longlisted for the Joyce Carol Oates Prize and the Story Prize; The Lightkeepers, winner of the inaugural Chicago Review of Books Award of Best Fiction; The Wildlands, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize; and The Last Animal, a finalist for the Orion Book Award. She will be discussing her new novel Children of the Wolf with Mitzi Rapkin, host of the literary podcast, First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing.

In Children of the Wolf a woman Liv notices a pattern of men disappearing in her small town, reawakening memories of her childhood raised by a father obsessed with his Norwegian heritage, including speaking only Swedish, learning swordplay and celebrating Norse holidays.  But Liv's family is torn about by an FBI raid that throws Liv and her brother into a normal life. Until 20 years later she notices repeating patterns happening in her small town that are similar to what happened around her childhood home forcing Liv to decide how she wants to proceed in uncanny circumstances.

During this live podcast recording, Geni and Rapkin will discuss the novel's story and characters, the creative writing process, and the themes of the books as well as other creative ideas that emerge. The talk will last 30 minutes with 15 minutes for audience questions followed by a reception for attendees to chat with the author and one another and attend a signing by the author with book purchases available with White River Books.

The library will be distributing free copies of Children of the Wolf to the community leading up to the event, while supplies last.
