Join Dance Initiative and NVA & Guests at The Launchpad on Tuesday, February 1st from 6:15pm - 8:00pm for an intermediate dance workshop. You’ll get face to face instruction by professional choreographer Nicole von Arx, founder and director of NVA & Guests. Nicole dabbles in contemporary, theatrical dance, and breaking. Note that Nicole’s style is physical and will give you a workout - just what we need to kick off the new year! Click the title to register.
NVA & Guests is based in New York, New York and will be in Carbondale for a residency with Dance Initiative January 29 - February 7, 2022. Company founder, Nicole von Arx (top left, photo credit Todd Rosenberg), was born in England and grew up in both Hong Kong and Switzerland. Her performance career led her to becoming a soloist at the Royal Opera House in London and Chicago Lyric Opera while dancing for Jasmin Vardimon. She’s worked for Carte Blanche (NO), Company XIV, Loni Landon, Romeo Castellucci’s Democracy in America, and Bryan Arias. She partnered with The Consulate General of Switzerland in New York, The Ace Hotel, The Yard, Showfields, to organize online and outdoors pop-up dance classes. Nicole most recently choreographed an evening length concert at Stanford Live for singer-songwriter and activist iskwe. For her residency with Dance Initiative at The Launchpad, Nicole will be joined by Michael Greenberg, David Flores, and Caitlin Taylor. NVA & Guests will be creating new work while in Carbondale at The Launchpad. At the end of their residency, they will perform new and repertory works at TACAW February 5th, 2022. Nicole will create highly physical dances and transform serious situations into light and playful scenes. She hopes to find new ways to safely invite spectators to feel a part of the show they’re witnessing.
