Date: March 15, 2019
Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM MDT
Event Description:
Enjoy the wonderful sounds of the Classical masters, Beethoven and Mozart, plus the renowned French Romantic composer, Franck, as executed with grace and sensitivity by Amanda Gessler on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Basalt Regional Library, 5:30 PM. With her characteristic poise and refinement, Amanda will perform Beethoven Piano Sonata, No. 27, Op. 90; Mozart Piano Sonata 331; and Franck Prelude, Chorale, and Fugue. Beethoven Op. 90 is a sonata written during his middle period of composing. It represents his forward looking style, bridging the Classical and Romantic periods of music. The Sonata is in two movements. The second movement is in the classical rondo form. The beautiful A melodic idea of this movement reminds one of a melody written by the romantic, Schubert. Mozart Sonata No. 331 is in three movements typical of the classical sonata form. The last movement, marked ‘alle turica’, is popularly known as the Turkish Rondo, with a sound that imitates that of a Turkish Janissary band. The closing composition, Franck Prelude Chorale and Fugue, was written in 1884 and incorporates a cyclic form created by the use of interrelated thematic relationships between movements.
