SOLE Lab: Exploring Sustainability & Social Justice
Name: SOLE Lab: Exploring Sustainability & Social Justice
Date: May 22, 2019
Time: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM MDT
Improve your knowledge and understanding of the perplexing issues we face today as individuals and communities. Become a more effective advocate and agent of change as you begin a hero's journey; exploring options and alternatives to problems of sustainability, social justice, and related issues that impact our community, country, and the world. On a personal level, SOLE (Self Organized Learning Environment) Lab is designed to re-ignite curiosity and the child-like drive to learn for the sheer joy of learning. On a practical level it hones and improves research, critical analysis, deductive reasoning, writing, collaboration, and presentation skills. On both levels it encourages the practice of life-long, self-organized learning. How SOLE Lab works: SOLE Lab is designed to inspire curiosity through the exploration of interesting questions; questions you may never have stopped to think about before. Participants enjoy a stress free environment of exploration, where it's not the answer that matters but the process employed to research, formulate, and present their findings that does. Participants are challenged to work from question to response, working collaboratively in small groups, in a 45 minute time frame. Groups then discuss their findings, and practice critiquing the quality of their own sources and references, and the effectiveness of their presentation styles. Each lab is limited to 12 participants -- advance registration is strongly encouraged. Open to adults and teens 16+. Labs are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
