Name: Summer Performer: ADC Moving Through Space
Date: June 11, 2019
Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM MDT
Event Description:
MOVING THROUGH SPACE is a fun, humorous show that features Gregory Gonzales and dancers to reveal what goes into creating a piece of choreography. The dancers will perform 3 short pieces of choreography and refer back to them throughout the program. Next the dancers perform a simple dance, brake down its' parts, and then reform the dance by changing the elements of SPACE, TIME, and ENERGY. Then the students (and parents if appropriate) will get up and move. The narrator will lead you on an adventure through SPACE: changing how you go through space: leaping, jumping, skipping, high and low, forward, backward, and on curved pathways or straight lines. Other directives will include aspects of TIME: fast slow, rhythmic, outer space, or the way molecules move. This leads us to an awareness of how we use our ENERGY and those directions. Time permitting, students will create their own new dances starting with familiar movements from sports. At the end of the 50 minute presentation, students and parents will have the opportunity to ask the professional dancers and choreographers questions.
