Community Celebration for Town of Basalt’s 125th Anniversary

The Town of Basalt invites the community to come together at Arbaney Park on Saturday, October 10, from noon to 6:30 p.m. to celebrate 125 years of Basalt.
The afternoon will be filled with music, history, activities, food and fun for all ages. The celebration will include history tours led by the Basalt Regional Heritage Society, a Ute Tribal performance, live music from A Band Called Alexis and Malqueridøs, and lunch by the Basalt Lions Club.
At 1 p.m., the community is invited to gather for a 125th anniversary photo in the park—a chance to be part of a snapshot of Basalt’s history.
“Basalt’s history is really a story about the people who built this community and helped shape the town we know today,” said Mayor David Knight. “Our heritage is a significant part of our present and the community is strong today because of those who came before us and those who work hard to contribute to a vibrant and close-knit Basalt. Our 125th anniversary is a chance to celebrate yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It is an exciting time to live in Basalt because of the strength of our community and all of the opportunities to thrive here."
There will be plenty for families and individuals to enjoy during the event, including pumpkin crafts from The Art Base, a bouncy house and obstacle courses hosted by Basalt Regional Library, a kids’ lemonade stand, and a community pie-baking contest. Bakers who would like to enter the contest should bring two pies for the judges to taste and rate.
