Event Description:

The Basalt Regional Library is partnering with High Rockies Harm Reduction and Aspen Strong in hosting an afternoon panel discussion on mental wellness, overdose, drug poisoning, and addiction education and prevention. Our speakers will represent behavioral and medical health experts, community service providers, and family members in an honest conversation about drug use in our valley.

A Narcan demonstration will be included. Following the presentation there will be an open Q&A.

Panelists include:

Cath Adams, Aperture of Hope, affected family member and local activist.

Tom Kurt MD, MPH, Medical Toxicologist and Public Health Physician serving on the Pitkin County Board of Health.

Maggie Seldeen, Founder and Director of High Rockies Harm Reduction, certified Peer Specialist, overdose prevention educator and affected family member.

Kim Reil LPC LAC, substance abuse counselor and Clinical Director for A Way Out, a nonprofit providing individuals and families who are in crisis with drug and alcohol abuse access to treatment and recovery support, regardless of an ability to pay.

Jarid Rollins LCSW at Mid Valley Family Practice, which provides a variety of support for those living with addiction, including outpatient detox, medication assisted treatment, peer support, and access to other community programs, including Discovery Cafe.
