Name: Longhorn Book Buddies

Time: 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM MST
Event Description:

The Longhorn Book Buddy program is a fun and supportive initiative designed to help younger readers improve their reading skills with the help of teen volunteers. Each younger participant is paired with a "Book Buddy," a teen who serves as a reading mentor. The pair will read together and discuss stories in a 15-minute time slot. This program aims to foster a love for reading while boosting confidence and comprehension in a relaxed and encouraging environment. It's perfect for younger readers who are struggling or just need extra practice, and teens get the rewarding experience of helping others while gaining volunteer hours and leadership skills. There are four time slots for each program date that are first come, first served.

Younger readers interested in participating must register on the event page. If you have questions regarding this program and registration, please reach out to the Children's Librarian, Linda Campbell, at lcampbell@basaltlibrary.org. Teen volunteers should contact the Teen Librarian, Brittany Crooke, at bcrooke@basaltlibrary.org.
