Calling all romance lovers! Come join a brand new book club at Basalt Regional Library solely for high schoolers who love to read romance novels. At Swoon Society, you don't need to defend your love of reading about love to anyone. We'll read and discuss a wide range of romance novels voted on by the group each month, while enjoying snacks and beverages. This program is for Grades 9-12.

This month we are reading Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood. Mallory Greenleaf is done with chess. Every move counts nowadays. After the sport led to the destruction of her family four years earlier, Mallory's focus is on her mom, her sisters, and the dead-end job that keeps the lights on. That is, until she begrudgingly agrees to play in one last charity tournament and inadvertently wipes the board with notorious "Kingkiller" Nolan Sawyer: current world champion and reigning bad boy of chess. But Mallory's victory opens the door to sorely needed cash prizes and, despite everything, she can't help feeling drawn to the enigmatic strategist....And as her love for the sport she so desperately wanted to hate begins to rekindle, Mallory quickly realizes that the games aren't only on the board, the spotlight is hotter than she imagined, and the competition can be fierce(-ly attractive. And intelligent...and infuriating...)

Únete a este nuevo club en la Biblioteca Regional de Basalt, exclusivamente para chic@s cursando la escuela media superior (high school) que disfrutan de leer novelas de romance. En Swoon Society no necesitas justificar tu amor por la lectura romántica ante nadie. Leeremos y discutiremos una amplia variedad de novelas románticas elegidas por el grupo cada mes, mientras disfrutamos de refrigerios y bebidas. Este programa está destinado a chic@s cursando entre el 9º y el 12º grado.  El programa será facilitado en inglés.

Este mes leeremos “Check & Mate” (Jaque mate al amor), escrito por Ali Hazelwood. Mallory Greenleaf no quiere más que ver con el ajedrez. Cada jugada cuenta estos días. Después de que dicho deporte condujo a la destrucción de su familia cuatro años atrás, Mallory desea enfocarse en su mamá, sus hermanas y el empleo sin futuro que les permite subsistir. Esto es, hasta que acepta participar, a regañadientes, en un último torneo de caridad y sin querer elimina al notable "Kingkiller" Nolan Sawyer, el actual campeón mundial y amo malvado del ajedrez. Pero la victoria de Mallory abre la puerta a una serie de premios monetarios profundamente  necesarios, y a pesar de todo, no puede evitar sentirse atraída al enigmático estratega… y mientras su amor por el deporte que con tanta vehemencia deseaba odiar comienza a renacer, Mallory se da cuenta de que los juegos se extienden más allá del tablero, que el foco de atención es más candente de lo que imaginaba, y que la competencia puede resultar ferozmente atractiva.
