This is our chance to say thank you to our incredible community – each and every one of you who reads our emails, shows up to our events, takes our advocacy actions, and so much more to help us protect public lands! Whether we're supporting new land and water protections or fighting off oil and gas development, you are critical to our work. This year we’re celebrating the community-driven victory of securing 20 years of protection for the Thompson Divide. Bring friends, family, colleagues, or anyone who loves the Thompson Divide and join us in Sopris Park! What: 2024 Community Party When: Friday, June 7, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Where: Sopris Park (Main Street and South 7th Street) in Carbondale Cost: Free and open to the public! Register: Registration is much appreciated, but not required. You can register here: https://wildernessworkshop.org/community-party/ Join us as part of your First Friday festivities! The party will include: Live music by the Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra and Blue River Grass Scrumptious food from Chef’s Cart, Slow Groovin’ BBQ and Senor Mango Craft beer from the Aspen Brewing Company, wine and non-alcoholic drinks Free gift for members Fun activities for all ages The chance to join or renew your WW membership We’ve put together an exciting program to celebrate 20 years of protection for the Thompson Divide, please see below for event schedule and details: 5:15pm: “Cattle Drive” celebratory parade down Main Street, beginning at the Village Smithy and ending in Sopris Park. Wear your best cow costume and get ready to shout your love for the Thompson Divide! Fun signs, cow bells, and creative chants all encouraged. To participate, please meet us at the lawn in front of the Village Smithy between 5:00-5:15pm. 5:30pm- Welcome remarks 5:40pm: Performance by the Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra 6:00pm: Community toast to the Thompson Divide 6:10pm- Live music by Blue River Grass 7:00pm- Thompson Divide Community Advocate awards 7:25pm- Live music by Blue River Grass 8:15pm- Thompson Divide film premier All of the above activities will take place on the stage at Sopris Park, except for the parade. Please bring a blanket or camping chairs and be ready to spend an evening celebrating with us – rain or shine! We also ask that participants adhere to all Sopris Park rules and regulations, including no dogs, glass, or outside alcohol.
